Different views on an ordinary life.
So I have been hoping that, over time, my elder son would gain some awareness of his strength. I figured that it arrived with great gusto and so needed a bit of settling into. Perhaps my estimation of a year or two was off by an era, as there are no signs that he is slowing down with the breaking of things. And by things I mean people too. It’s pretty much the worst when he wants to get your attention: “Mom, hey Mom!” (tap on upper arm, humerus shatters). “Dude, ow.” “Sorry mom I was just tapping I didn’t even do it hard I’m sorry I’m sorry, aw man!” His super hero strength moments are always followed by remorse, frustration, and a very adorable “Aw, man!”
When he gets into the car, it shakes and whatever is near him gets knocked to the floor. When he gets out of the car, the entire vehicle rocks as he slams the door and whoever is inside experiences such an abrupt pressure change that ears often pop. When he closes the fridge bottles rattle, and of course he did pull the handle off the microwave door. He exercises great caution when emptying the dishwasher but our census of glasses is notably reduced. All in all it’s quite an experience, probably on par with being present for the Yucatan meteor event. I’m considering strengthening the floor joists and other structural elements of the house since it appears that the Pale Orc is here to stay.
